YOU ARE NOT TO BLAME

Seif - hate ,self-blame ,self -harm all these are characteristics of a sexually abused child . In our world of today , there is need to understand why a child did not tell or report sexual abuse . The child too should be made to understand why sexual abuse should not be made secret and must be reported . A person sexually abused as a child who failed to report then and grows up to become an adult and feels guilty thinks he is at fault because he did not report the abuse when it happened . It must be stressed that it is not the fault of the child no matter how long it takes to tell . At young age the abused child may have a mixed feeling of confusion and fear .The child probably did not tell for fear of not being believed . In actual fact most adults don't believe what children say . This is why abusers tell the victims that no one will believe them.

The abuser may also threaten the victim , making the victim feel it was his/her fault the abuse took place .Some victims don't even know how to report or the language to use or what the private parts are or called . A child deprived of love and affection may find it in the attention offered by the molester .The child welcomes the abuse because of mixed feelings

enjoyed ,become happy that someone is providing the love wanted badly . It is very important to show love to all the children under our care .
